Rick Nation has unknowingly become the captain of a space ship hidden on Earth centuries ago. When an android named Mach and an alien named Hammen come to retrieve the ship, Rick is brought along for the ride. They soon learn that the ship known as Epoch will only respond to Rick’s commands. Now they must all brave the perils of space in search of a way to relieve Rick of this unwanted responsibility.

25 year-old Rick Nation went to Mt. Epitaph to get away from it all. But when an android from space named Mach crashes into the mountain, Rick suddenly finds himself in the middle of an interstellar mission to retrieve a ship called Epoch that was hidden on Earth centuries ago. After surviving a run-in with an evil race of creatures known as the Squeerith, Mach brings Rick to Hammen, the member of the Monastery who sent the android to Earth. Together onboard the Epoch, they soon learn that Rick’s adventure with them is only beginning.

After becoming the unwilling captain of the Epoch, Rick makes his first light speed jump to the Basran System. There, Rick, Hammen and Mach take shelter on the Terr Asteroid Complex, the only station in the area not under Squeerith control. But a new friend named Chiel soon shows them there are more sinister undertakings going on in this space station than meets the eye.

Rick and the crew of the Epoch travel to the paradise city of Ipso for a supply run. The crew touches down and realizes the city has been abandoned, and they suddenly find themselves under siege by a band of Borgons, a thuggish race of creatures that now occupies Ipso. When Rick is taken prisoner by the Borgons, he finds his ability to tell stories is the only thing that can keep him alive long enough to discover the Borgon’s true plans for Ipso.
